As an engine starting aid, pre-heating is required in a cold engine starting. 1) Turn the starter switch key counterclockwise to PREHEAT position in order to heat the glow plugs on the engine. The pre-heating time varies depending on the types of pre heating system as follows: • The type with an indication lamp 20 seconds are required until the indication lamp al the instrument board goes off. • The type with a control resistance 25 to 30 seconds are required until the control resistance coil red heats. 2) Turn the starter switch key clockwise to START position as soon as the indication lamp goes off or the control resistance coil red heats. WARNINC:Don't touch the red (hot) control resistance coil or allow combustible materials such as paper, cloth or leaves on it. This could lead to a fire and the risk of personal injury and/or equipment damage.
